10 Days self-drive is to visit around the main highlights that Namibia has to offer in Africa. In just 11 days we would never be able to fit in everything you wanted to see but you will see the main most attractions. You will Spend time amongst the ancient sand dunes in Sossusvlei, go back in time with the coastal time of Swakopmund. Experience the vast landscapes of Otjiwarongo and exceptional game viewing at the world famous Etosha National Park.

Self-Drive Information

Emergency Services: Emergency evacuation services are included.

Drivers: A valid and unendorsed license must be produced by all drivers. The minimum age for authorised drivers is 23 years.

Fuel: The renter will receive the vehicle with a full tank of fuel. Upon the return of the vehicle/termination of the hire, the vehicle will be refilled at the renter’s expense.

Insurances: The rental vehicle includes Zero Excess

Rental Agreement: Upon renting the vehicle the renter and additional drivers will be required to complete a standard rental agreement with the car rental company. A valid credit card is required for the rental deposit.

Health: It is the client’s own responsibility to ensure that he/she is medically fit and able to embark on the tour.

Force Majeure: It goes without saying that we do our utmost to conduct the tour as described in the programme; however, we cannot guarantee it. Unfavourable weather conditions, rivers in flood, organisational problems, unforeseen events or other factors may force us to change the course of the tour. We apologise for the inconvenience.

 

Day 1
Windhoek

Accommodation: Arebbusch Travel Lodge, or similar

Guestwill be met and hand over the Vehicle. The guest will have leisure time to explore the capital city. Windhoek is often described as a city with a “continental” atmosphere due to its architecture (historical buildings dating back to the German colonial rule), cuisine, culture, dress and educational institutions. Clients can do a city tour during the day and go to Joe’s Beer House where they will enjoy different types of game meat and enjoy their evening.

Arebbusch Travel Lodge offers high quality accommodation at affordable rates in a natural setting in Windhoek – a gateway to the many wonders of Namibia’s beautiful wide open spaces, its fascinating variety of cultures, nature, wildlife and majestic sunsets. Situated on the banks of the dry Arebbusch River, Arebbusch Travel Lodge nestles in the natural surroundings of the “veld”. Far from the hustle and bustle of central city life, yet minutes away from the capital’s shopping centers and attractions.

Arebbusch Travel Lodge provides a wide variety of accommodation in a safe, clean and family friendly environment. Accommodation types include luxury accommodation, standard rooms, 2 –6 bed self-catering accommodation units and caravan/camping sites. All accommodation may either be taken on a B&B basis or on a self-catering basis.

Day 2
Windhoek to Sossusvlei (392.7.km)

Accommodation: Desert Quiver Camp or Similar

Guest will depart in the morning from Windhoek to Sossusvlei area.The drive reveals the transition from Kalahari thornveld to the true desert of the Namib; Lilyveld, a valley 30km north of Maltahöhe, springs into bloom for about a week after good rains; Duiwiseb Castle is an interesting diversion 70km south-west of Maltahöhe. As they are driving guest will havelunch along the way where te will pullover by a big tree and serve lunch at 12h00-13h00. After arrival guest will have leisure time before going on a Sundowner drive to Elim dune around 17h30 or 18h00.

Day 3
Sossuvlei / Sesriem Area

Accommodation: Desert Quiver Camp or Similar

Guest will get early breakfast and drive into the parkforthe Sossuvlei Excursion which includes Dune 45, Deadvlei, Hiddenvlei, and Big Daddy. Guest will have regular stops to take pictures and have some exposure of the Dunes. Guest will be back around lunch time and will have some leisure time for themselves at the pool.

Overnight: Desert Quiver Camp

Desert Quiver Camp uniquely combines modern self-catering accommodation with comfort and style. Conveniently located a mere 5km from the entrance gate to Sossusvlei, the inspiring scenery characterised by granite outcrops, spectacular views and roaming wildlife will captivate your senses.

The 24 uniquely designed self-catering accommodation units have spacious bedrooms, en-suite bathrooms, shaded patio areas and private parking. Each twin-bedded bedroom features a fold-out sleeper couch to accommodate 2 small children (under 12) free of charge when sharing with 2 full paying adults. The patio is equipped with a barbeque facility, a fitted kitchenette with under counter fridge and 2 plate hob and a wooden bench for seating. Utility boxes with most utensils needed are available at reception and fresh food supplies can be ordered daily.

Leisure facilities within Desert Quiver Camp include a bar with a big screen television, a sparkling swimming pool overlooking the grasslands and Elim Dune, 2 communal bomas which are perfect to cater for groups travelling together, and a reception area that has WI-FI connectivity.

Meals can be enjoyed at the nearby Sossusvlei Lodge restaurant and their Adventure Centre offers a range of exciting desert activities to explore the area.

A fully stocked shop, fuel and an Internet café is available at the Sossus Oasis Service Station.

Day 4
Sossusvlei to Walvis Bay 374.6km

Accommodation: Loubser’s B&B/Self Catering and Backpackers / Similar

Guest depart to Walvis Bay early morning at around 09:00 am from Sossusvlei to the coastal side of Namibia. It’s about 3 hours’ drive to Walvisbay. Along the way you will see the endemic Hartmann's mountain zebra as you leave, stop at Solitaire, about 80km from Sesriem for some home-made bread and an ice cold drink, Kuiseb Canyon has some shady picnic spots, you can see springbok and pure-bred wild ostrich across the vast gravel plains of the Namib, the lunar landscape, look out for the welwitschia plant. Once clients have arrived, they will get lunch and after quad biking and Sandboard activity which is about a 2-hour drive. After the act Other optional activities can be Skydiving, Sandwich habour, kayaking, desert tour. There are a lot of activities that clients can do in Swakopmund.

Loubser's B&B/Self Catering and Backpackers offer the tourist affordable accommodation in Walvis Bay, Namibia. There are 3 double Rooms, 1 self-catering unit and 2 x 4-bed dorm rooms available.

Situated in the quiet lagoon area, the accommodation is 350 m from the lagoon, close to the yacht club, angling club, cricket oval, and tennis courts.The shopping centers are within 1,7 km from the residence as well as restaurants and clubs.

A full service is available; accommodation, transfers to and from the airport, camping and accommodated tours to various destinations in Namibia and neighboring countries. Day-tours along the central coastal area are also offered.

Day 5
Walvis Bay to Swakopmund (43.2km)

Accommodation: Pebble Stone House, Swakopmund / Similar

Guest depart to Swakopmund early morning at around 09:00 am from Walvis Bayalong the coastal side of Namibia. It’s about 40 minutes’ drive to Swakopmund. Once clients have arrived, they will get lunch in Swakopmund after quad biking and Sandboard activity which is about a 2-hour drive. After the act Other optional activities can be Skydiving, Sandwich habour, kayaking, desert tour. There are a lot of activities that clients can do in Swakopmund.

Overnight: Pebble Stone House

Bellied in the town centre of Namibia's premier coastal holiday town of Swakopmund, is PebbleStoneHouse Bed & Breakfast. The property has been gracefully restored into a lovely guest house – 10 minutes walk from the beach, popular Swakopmund restaurants, shopping areas and Swakop River and Namib Dunes.

Day 6
Swakopmund to Etosha National Park (491.6km)

Accommodation:Mopane Village Lodge, Etosha South or similar

Clients will grab breakfast and depart to the northern part of Namibia. their journey and the second stop will be in Otjiwarongo, where guest can grab lunch at the shopping centre before proceeding to Etosha National Park.The route is almost too short to stop, barring a comfort stop at Outjo and a picture of the Ugab Terrace. If time permits, enter Etosha for an afternoon game drive. Depending on how often you stop today, On entering the park, the first stop would be Okaukuejo where you pay your entry fee and I suggest you pop in at the local shop to purchase some drinks and snacks and most importantly, a map of Etosha which will show you all the waterholes along the way.Etosha has lions, giraffes, rhinos, zebras, springbok and elephants. This on top of many lesser and common plains herds, and abundant birds makes game viewing in Etosha.

Day 7
Etosha National Park

Clients will take early breakfast and then go on the Full day game drive and around 12h00 -13h00 clients will have lunch inside the park and continue with the game drive up till the afternoon and after the game drive guest will have leisure time to enjoy the atmosphere before dinner.

Overnight: Mopane Village Lodge

Day 8
Etosha to Otjiwarongo 169.0km

Guest will get early breakfast and depart to Otjiwarongo while enjoying the beautifullandscape.

Recommended Activity: Visit to Crocodile Range

Towards the north lies the Etosha National Park, Damaraland with the famous “Vingerklip”, Twyfelfontein and the Petrified Forest or the Kavango and the Caprivi Strip with their luscious woodlands. Heading in a southerly direction there is the Waterberg Plateau Park, Namibia’s capital and even further down Namibia’s endless horizons in the south. Ideally, Hadassa is the perfect stop over.

Day 9
Otjiwarongo to Windhoek (250.5.km)

Guest will get up at 08h00 and have breakfast ready for them. After Breakfast clients will pack up and depart back to the Capital city of Namibia (Windhoek) Lunch Packs will be given to the guest along the way and arrival time will be estimated at 14h30. You have a 2-3 hours’ drive ahead of you today: along the way you can stop by Okahandja to visit Craft Centre and after the visit depart back to Windhoek.
