Greater Addo

Stretching from the spectacularly scenic Zuurberg Mountain Range to the beautiful Sundays River, the Greater Addo area is known for its malaria-free big game viewing opportunities. It is an area rich in history and diverse in culture featuring lush citrus valleys, rolling dunes and abundant fauna and flora. Easily accessible from the large city of Port Elizabeth, Greater Addo boasts numerous private game reserves, which are home to the Big Five. Must-see sites include the renowned Addo Elephant National Park, hosting one of the most densely populated elephant herds in the world and the thriving Nanaga Farm Stall known for its delicious pies. The Greater Addo area offers an exciting array of activities ranging from hiking, horse riding, fishing, canoeing and mountain biking; to bird watching, game safaris and 4x4 off road adventures.

Located on a malaria-free private game reserve 15km from Addo Elephant National Park, Kudu Ridge offers comfortable B&B accommodation in safari tents and bush chalets.

Family-owned and operated at Kudu Ridge Game Lodge all the safari tents and chalets are en-suite, private and set in the indigenous Addo bush.

Bush walks are available on the game reserve. Wildlife includes kudu, bushbuck, impala, zebra, as well as numerous birds and rare plant species.

Safari trips to Addo Elephant National Park are offered on open safari vehicles to view elephants, rhino, buffalo, giraffe and more.

The lodge serves South African cuisine in the dining room and outdoor boma around the fire. There is a well stocked bar and a bush bar for game viewing sundowners.

Facilities include free WiFi, communal big screen television, open-air fire pit and viewing deck overlooking the reserve, the Sundays River Valley and Addo Elephant National Park. Kudu Ridge has a pool table and a dartboard in bar.

Activities such as canoeing on the Sundays River, elephant back safaris, quad biking and guided tours can be arranged on request. Addo region has one of the longest double zip-lines in South Africa on site.

The Kudu Ridge function venue can host private functions, conferences and meetings. The venue comfortably accommodates 45 guests or delegates.

Kudu Ridge is a 45-minute drive from the airport, beaches and shopping malls of Port Elizabeth.

Tsitsikamma Canopy Tours

Stormsriver Adventures is a rurally based Eco adventure Company situated in the heart of the majestic Tsitsikamma Forest region aptly named “THE GARDEN OF THE GARDEN ROUTE”.

The company boasts adventure activities which include the world renowned Tsitsikamma Treetop Canopy Tour, Tsitsikamma Forest Tour (Woodcutters Journey), Hiking Trails, Team Building, Local Crafting Facility and a Catering Facility / Restaurant.TheTsitsikamma Treetop Canopy Tour is the first of its kind in Africa.

Safety is paramount and the system has been built to civil engineering standards. Imagine the Tsitsikamma Forest 30 meters above, as you gently glide on 10 slides to 10 platforms high up in Giant trees. The platforms provide an unbelievable view of this enchanting New World. Spend a few minutes relaxing while your Guides enthusiastically explain the ecology of the forest – pointing out different trees and magnificent giant ferns way below. You may even sight the KnysnaLoerie and Narina Trojan.

The region Tsitsikamma lies between the sea and the Tsitsikamma Mountains and stretches from the Bloukrans River in the West to Clarkson in the East. Beautiful indigenous forest, protected by the State, is home to centuries old trees such as Yellowwood, Stinkwood, Hard Pear, Ironwood, Kamassi and many others.

Tsitsikamma is a khoi word meaning "place of abundant or sparkling water". The region stretches from the Bloukrans River in the west to EersteRivier in the east, is bordered on the north by the imposing Tsitsikamma Mountains and in the south by the Indian Ocean.

Stormsriver Adventures has formed a non profit organization, NPO number 077-407-NPO, this is already established comprising of 2 community representatives and 2 company representatives to establish priority projects within the community of Stormsriver.

The Stormsriver Adventures Community Projects (SRACP) initiative has been in operation for a number of years on an informal basis in the village of Storms River, a very impoverished rural village. To date the projects have been totally funded by Stormsriver Adventures.

The major criteria identified are:

  • Children – Welfare (feeding scheme)
  • HIV AIDS – support and excursions
  • Elderly – clothing distribution
  • Poorest of the poor – clothing distribution

Job creation for unemployed youth. – Skills development. Based on the 5 areas priorities are defined as to which projects we can afford to initiate and support.

Tsitsikamma National Park

Situated along South Africa’s beautiful coast, the Tsitsikamma National Park is known for its ancient forest, pristine coastline and magnificent rivers. The Tsitsikamma National Park falls within the Garden Route National Park and encompasses a marine conservation belt which stretches five kilometres out into the ocean. It is home to diverse fauna and flora including over 9000 species of indigenous fynbos. Visitors can look forward to hiking to the Big Tree, an ancient yellowwood; and going on an exhilarating kayaking trip at Storms River Mouth, as well as a number of other activities including: cycling, swimming, ziplining, camping, snorkelling, diving, mountain biking, and sailing.

Plettenberg Bay

Set along the spectacularly scenic Garden Route in South Africa, the coastal town of Plettenberg Bay is a popular holiday destination. The Portuguese explorers called it the 'Beautiful Bay', and it’s easy to see why – Plettenberg Bay is a picturesque, charming town with endless pristine beaches, tranquil lagoons, clean rivers, indigenous forests and a dramatic rocky peninsula. Playground to the wealthy, beach mansions overlook the Indian Ocean, often dotted with luxury yachts, while leisure time is given over to polo and golf, among other things. However, all kinds of visitors will feel at peace here as simply swimming in the warm water on a safe beach is a great way to experience the beauty of Plettenberg Bay.

Dunes Resort is located in the heart of the Garden Route right on the Keurbooms beach, (Plettenberg bay). A short walk through the protected dune forest gives you direct access to a private beach were you can enjoy whale and dolphin sightings on a regular basis.

Located along the well-known Route 62 in South Africa’s beautiful Klein Karoo, the charming town of Oudtshoorn is known as the ostrich capital of the world.
